Sebastian Magnani (b. 1985, Canton Valais, Switzerland) is a Swiss conceptual photographer whose work explores the intersections of culture, identity, and imagination. Raised in a small mountain village, he first encountered photography in 2006 while completing an apprenticeship in media design. After five years working at an advertising agency, Magnani chose to pursue his passion full-time, leaving the corporate world in 2011 to establish his career as an independent photographer. He is now based in Zurich, Switzerland.
Since then, Magnani has developed a diverse body of work and earned recognition through numerous international photography awards. Among his most notable projects is Daily Bat, a series that reimagines the cultural icon of Batman within the context of everyday life. By placing the superhero in ordinary situations, Magnani humanizes the figure, transforming him into a character we can empathize with—someone navigating isolation and the search for connection, much like ourselves.
Today, Magnani continues to produce innovative visual narratives from Zurich, where his conceptual practice blends playful imagination with cultural commentary, cementing his place in the contemporary photography landscape.
