Damien Hirst’s H13-3, Kynance Cove (2024) bursts with radiant energy, layering exuberant splashes of fuchsia, crimson, and emerald against a muted gray ground. The surface is alive with painterly gestures - drips, flicks, and splatters - that conjure both the chaos of abstraction and the lyrical bloom of a flowering landscape. The horizontal band of intense pink suggests a field of blossoms seen from afar, while the scattered specks of color evoke petals swept into motion by wind or tide. Titled after the dramatic Cornish coastline, the painting situates its wild beauty between the natural world and the raw immediacy of paint itself.
